Hi! ( ⸝⸝•ᴗ•⸝⸝ )੭⁾⁾
I used to be a huge bookworm as a kid; I'd read huge chapter books within days. Easy. But once I got my first phone and got sucked into the addictive nature that is a smartphone, I stopped reading. In the back of my mind, I always thought, "Oh, I'll get back into reading!" and I would never pick up a book...

However, over the summer, I decided I needed a free hobby and was feeling nostalgic for my old library days. So, I got a library card and participated in my library's summer reading bingo!
Here are all the books I read this summer!
I will break all these books into different categories to discuss them! This'll be a long post hehe
First category is:
Books I Absolutely Loved Enough To Buy Them.
These two books are a very rare variety of celebrity memoirs that are genuinely good and well-written. Both Fox and McCurdy's lives were tumultuous and unique. Both authors touched my heart and wrote about experiences I once felt alone in. I highly recommend reading or listening to, as both authors narrate their own books, which adds so much to the experience.
The Husbands by Holly Gramazio
I would recommend all of these books, as I had a great time reading them for different reasons, of course, The Husbands and Hard Copy are both funny books with very odd and engaging premises. Unorthodox was absolutely gripping and very informative to me. Despite really enjoying them, there were a few small things I disliked about The Husbands and Hard Copy (Not Orthodox). Nevertheless, these are all great reads!
Books I Enjoyed...But Would Not Recommend.
Okay...All of these have their own reasons as to why I won't recommend them. Blob: A Love Story was funny, and I enjoyed it; however, the character was quite frustrating to read (which is by design), and she's unlikable, and I would only recommend this book to someone who enjoys/understands unlikeable female characters.
First Love: Essay on Friendship was a beautiful read and very emotional for me, and that's a big reason why I'm not comfortable recommending it, because it is such a heavy read. Familiarize yourself with the book's content warnings if you choose to read it.
Now. I loved Invincible very deeply. Mark Grayson is a very important character to me...But I was introduced to him through the show before the comics. Like many others, I wanted to read the comics after I watched the show, and I knew that these comics were older...And that's very evident in its writing. Robert Kirkman's writing excels in male protagonists; however, his female characters and the relationships involving them fall flat. It was hard to go from the show, where its characters, male and female, are so well written, to the comics, where Mark Grayson is amazing, but the female characters felt like they were written for laughs or were just added as a requirement. If you're interested in Invincible, I would recommend the show, and if you decide to read the comics, take it with a grain a salt and remember it was the 00s...
Book(s) I Didn't Really Enjoy.
This was a quick read, and while there were many fun facts I didn't know (as an avid horror fan), the first half of the book had very interesting exclusive interviews with people involved with their respective horror movies. However, towards the latter half, the interviews were few and far between.
Secret Third Category!
This book didn't really fit any of my other categories because I didn't actually finish it! :0
I really, REALLY want to though! I didn't because I'm dyslexic, so I take a bit longer to finish books, and this book is really popular. I could never renew it because someone else was waiting for it. I figured I should buy it and read it on my own time instead of continuing the cycle of checking it out, turning it in, and waiting three weeks and checking it out again.
To end this VERY long blog post. I'm happy to be back to reading! I've been trying to reverse my brain rot and doom scrolling. Embracing physical media and putting my phone down, I think, has done wonders for my mental health. Don't get me wrong, it's still been hard trying to undo my phone addiction, but having something else to pick up is lovely.
Thanks For Reading!
Bye Bye!~
